Auto Accidents & Injuries
Based on overwhelming, irrefutable evidence, if you are involved in a motor vehicle accident you will have a spinal injury. Research from the San Diego Spine Research Institute revealed that an impact as slow as 8 mph results in damages to the connective tissues (ligaments, tendons, and even the cartilage of the discs) in the neck and back. The nerves in the neck are also affected and can be stretched and strained.
The most important part to be concerned about is our brain. It gets jarred around in a minor impact but can get violently thrashed in a more severe collision which can result in a concussion and / or a “Traumatic Brain Injury.” Yes, you can sustain a traumatic brain injury even if you don’t hit your head. If not treated appropriately this can significantly affect someone’s life.
Chiropractors as spinal care specialists are properly equipped to evaluate and treat these types of injuries, a physical injury to the structures of the spine. Being involved in an automobile accident produces an excessive amount of force to your body. These are the forces that create the injuries.
We are the #1 health profession when it comes to restoring more appropriate spinal joint function and improving spinal alignment. Without spinal correction therapy and improved neurological function coordinating the healing, recovery from auto accident injuries will not be optimal. This can result in the injured parties suffering permanent damage to their body including the brain and cause chronic pain and health issues.
I have successfully managed all sorts of injuries suffered by adults and children from auto accidents since 1990. If you ever find yourself or someone you know in a situation like this, feel confident that we can help.

Sports Injuries
Many men, women and children participate in some form of sports. Whether it is football, soccer, tennis, golf, weightlifting, crossfit or dancing etc. Suffering an injury can happen. Sports injuries usually involve muscles, ligaments, tendons and joints. The most frequently sustained injuries occur in the extremities, but they can also involve the spine and the brain (a concussion).
If you suffer an injury participating in a sport this is defined as a physical trauma. In our office we are well trained in treating these injuries. We have studied extremity as well as spinal injuries, the biomechanics as well as the treatment methodologies. I have been treating all sorts of athletes over the last 29+ years, from professionals (I was the Chiropractor for the WWE, WCW years ago), baseball players, golfers, professional powerlifters, bodybuilders, martial artists, football players, dancers and figure skaters. I have also been donating time to the high school athletes for more than 20 years.
There are a variety of treatment options that are applicable, including the use of adjusting instruments, manual techniques, rehab equipment / options and supplementation that have helped people recover and return to actively participating and competing in their sports.
Children’s Health
There are some people who will tell you that you shouldn’t bring a child to a chiropractor. They will tell you “children don’t have back problems”, or “it is not safe.” These opinions are just that…opinions, from people who have never been properly informed of the efficacy and safety of Chiropractic care. If you have been told that or are just investigating and researching Chiropractic care I completely understand. So let me educate and inform you.
Safety first: This one is the most important to parents and it should be. Let me assure you as a parent I agree with you that any form of healthcare for my children needs to be safe. The Vohra study revealed just this. They did a systematic review of literature on documented adverse events associated with pediatric spinal manipulations. After examining 105 years of medical literature they ONLY found 10 cases. It has been estimated that there have been 30 million pediatric visits to Chiropractors per year since 1997. Based on these numbers I would say it is extremely safe for your child to visit a Chiropractor.
According to the National Health Interview Survey conducted by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), and the National Center for Health Statistics in 2007 and again in 2012 Chiropractic care is the most highly utilized practitioner based CAM therapy for children. The initiating factors for care were to address back and neck pain, head or chest colds, anxiety or stress, other musculoskeletal issues and ADD/ADHD issues.
Facts: the brain and central nervous system control the immune system; Stress and anxiety are at an all time high in children and adolescents; Stress responses suppress immune function allowing your body to become more susceptible to viruses and infections.
Chiropractic care reduces the stress response.
Chiropractic treatment for children is vastly different than that of adults. A Chiropractor is required to take courses in pediatrics and pass proficiency exams. I have personally adjusted many children with great success. As a matter of fact, children are usually more excited to get adjusted than their parents once they experience a treatment!
Headaches & Vertigo
Headaches are so common that most people believe they are a normal part of life. Some people will say “I always get headaches 3-4 times per week when I’m stressed and about 1x per week on a good week, they are not a problem, I just take Tylenol, it is normal”. I am going to tell you that nothing in that statement is accurate.
They are a problem, and they are not normal.
They are indicators that something is wrong. Just because something is common does not make it normal and healthy. High blood pressure is common, but it is not normal or healthy, being overweight or obese is common in the U.S. but not normal or healthy. Some experts consider any more than 3 headaches per year, that’s right 3 per year, indicative of a health problem.
More people complain about headaches than any other medical ailment, about one in every six people are headache sufferers.
Migraine headaches are a separate category for me. Roughly 39 million people in the United States and 1 billion people worldwide have suffer with migraine headaches. This makes migraine the third most common illness in the world. Some doctors think these numbers are low since many people with migraines go undiagnosed.
In a large US survey, 17.1% of women and 5.6% of men reported having migraine symptoms according to JAMAnetwork.
Headaches can be caused by many different imbalances and/or abnormal patterns in the body, from elevated blood pressure, or an improper stress response to biomechanical problems in the spine (commonly in the neck), to food triggers and a multitude of other issues. Whether its chemical / hormonal imbalances or circulatory problems, the bottom line is the headache is a symptom, the result of a problem. It is a way your body can communicate with you, letting you know something is wrong.
The one thing that we do know is that headaches can be mild and annoying to severe and debilitating. I have witnessed headaches ruin people’s lives and happiness. Affected family and work relationships.
Vertigo
Vertigo, dizziness, and balance-related conditions are among the most common health problems in adults. According to the University of California San Francisco Nearly 40 percent of U.S. adults experience vertigo at least once in their lifetime, with women slightly more likely to get it than men. Some of the main symptoms of Vertigo are Headaches, dizziness, balance problems, nausea & vomiting, hearing loss, tinnitus, and motion sickness.
In my career I have had many patients who suffered a combination of headaches with vertigo simultaneously. This is a debilitating combination to deal with.
Vertigo, dizziness and or balance disorders are one of the most significant problems you can suffer from. They will literally knock you off your feet and incapacitate you. It is horrible to experience. I have seen it so severe patients have been driven to the hospital for treatment.
Vertigo can be caused by neurological blockages or imbalances, structural stress in the skull and cervical spine (usually), crystals from the inner ear move out of their normal place, diabetes, high blood pressure amongst others.
With our unique approach’s, including KST (Koren Specific Technique) and TRT (Torque Release Technique) our office has been extremely successful helping patients who suffer with headaches, including migraines, and vertigo for more than 30 years.
According to research conducted at Syracuse University damaged structures in the neck and cervical spine are the cause of many chronic headaches. They stated Chiropractic care is the preferred mode of treatment for this.
Another cause of headaches that can be overlooked is dehydration. Most of us are dehydrated to a degree. A simple formula to follow for adequate hydration is drink 8 oz of water every hour you are awake for the first 10 hours (ideally). The quality of the water matters too. Dehydration can also be caused by a lack of mineral balance in the body. You may drink enough water, but your body may not absorb it properly because of mineral deficiency.
In conclusion there could be many causes of your headaches. Consult your Chiropractor to have all the possibilities evaluated to determine the cause. You always want to treat the cause of the issue not just cover it up. Our philosophy is always to locate and treat the root cause of a health problem.

Massage
Massage therapy performed by a licensed massage therapist is a hands-on approach to reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress; alleviate chronic muscle tension and pain; improve circulation; increase joint flexibility; promote faster healing of injured muscle and soft tissue; improve posture; and reduce blood pressure. The work is performed on the soft tissue of the body, i.e. muscle, ligaments and tendons.
When you receive massage therapy in our office, it is a therapeutic massage. The therapy is performed in a private room in our separate Massage center. It is performed in a soothing environment and can include aromatherapy. Depending upon the patient, a massage therapist may use different techniques to achieve the desired results.
Immediately after receiving a massage, it is best not to exert yourself physically or enter into a stressful environment, because that essentially defeats the whole purpose of the therapy. Please remember to allow sufficient time for your body to reap the full benefits.
It is very important that you discuss any health problems you are experiencing and medications you are taking with the massage therapist. If you are not our patient but under a doctor’s care, it is strongly advised that you consult with your doctor and ask for written recommendation for massage before you begin massage therapy.
Torque Release Technique (TRT)
Developed by Jay Holder D. C.
Is a technique that influences the chemical balance in the brain and reduces the stress / torque on the spinal cord itself. It is a gentle, safe approach able to be performed on any patient of any age group and with patients where other traditional 1st generation biomechanical techniques would be contraindicated.
Torque Release Technique® embraces The Brain Reward Cascade Model. This is where the neurotransmitters, if the brain is functioning properly, are released appropriately resulting in a feeling of well-being and reduction of stress in the body. It was developed due to the burden of all first century chiropractic techniques being mechanistic and linear, which is structurally based.
Torque Release Technique® (TRT) was developed out of the first state of well-being/addiction population research study in chiropractic history. TRT is a non-linear, vitalistic & tonal model Chiropractic approach. Utilizing the Integrator™, a handheld adjusting instrument, TRT is the first technique of chiropractic’s second century.
The Integrator™, Chiropractic’s only Toggle Recoil Instrument, a torque and recoil release adjusting instrument which combines the best of existing chiropractic techniques and principles, quantum physics and the body/mind connection. Creating the first integrated chiropractic system for the second century of chiropractic.
I studied directly with Dr. Holder and received my Advanced Proficiency Certification in December 2007.
I have had great results utilizing this approach with children, vertigo, whiplash injuries and migraine headaches to mention a few examples since I began incorporating in my patient care protocols since 2007. I believe this approach, as well as other tonal, vitalistic and holistic techniques are going to be part of the healthcare solution and future.

KST (Koren Specific Technique) developed by Tedd Koren D.C. and taught worldwide is the primary approach used by Dr. Komsky for analysis.
KST is a unique, breakthrough Chiropractic technique that is a new approach to patient care based on the most recent research in neuroscience. It is different from other Chiropractic Techniques, there is no twisting, turning, “cracking” or “popping” of the neck or spine. The goal is to give the patient individualized care tailored to their specific needs and lifestyle. We are correcting a serious form of nerve stress that causes distortions in your spine and body known as subluxations. The nerve stress and subluxations are often associated with loss of energy, pain, weakness and disease of all types.
KST uses a very precise analysis to obtain information quickly and accurately from the patient. Including locating areas of interference & blockages in the nervous system that pull the body out of balance. These blockages lock up and bind energy, so it is not available for the body to use.
The specific, safe, gentle, low force adjustment is performed with an FDA approved instrument called the Arthrostim. The adjustments introduce gentle stimulation/force/energy taps into your body where the nerve pressure and blockages are located. The specific frequency of the taps relaxes the nervous system, breaks up the blockages in the nervous system, releases energy and stimulates healing. This type of treatment helps the brain reorganize & normalize patterns in the nervous system.
Kind of like upgrading the software and rebooting your cell phone allowing it to work better and handle greater demands.
Patient response with this technique has been dramatic and usually changes in tension and posture are noticed on the first visit. Patients can be adjusted while standing, sitting, lying down and in a position of injury.
Utilizing KST daily since 2006 I have witnessed patient’s health and lives transform with this type of care. They become free to live the life they want. They feel better, move better, have more energy, sleep better and handle stress more effectively.
This technique is safe & gentle enough for everyone from infants through the elderly as well as patients with previous spinal surgery. I have seen consistent results helping people suffering with vertigo, headaches, difficulty sleeping and improving balance. I have seen KST help patients live more vibrant lifestyles who suffer from neurological conditions like Multiple Sclerosis and Cerebral Palsy. It is also phenomenal for TBI and concussions as well as post stroke care. I encourage you to come find out how it can help you.
